Henna and It's Multi-purpose
By Jivwe Whiskel
In the history of fashion, beauty and life-style, Henna is not new. It's been known since Bronze Age, I call it the Trendy tradition.
Henna has been in existence for about 9,000 years. Research has it that Henna was a tradition practiced by ancient cultures like ones from the Middle East, India and Africa. It was a tradition for Body art. It was associated with marriages, pregnancies and every other joyous occasion. That's why we have words like BRIDAL HENNA which brides wear during marriages to look Glamorous.
I bet you never knew it was used as cosmetics in the days of the old but now it is universally popular in society today with new style, patterns and different purposes. That's why I advice beauticians, Tattoo artists and make-up artists to learn this body art and come up with different ideas especially for photo-shoots, commercials, marriages, Runway shows, etc. It's a temporary tattoo and it's pain free. Don't let the word tattoo scare you. I believe in Nigeria it's not our culture to have tattoos. Some religion see it as a taboo, But Hello, fashion is not based on religion, it's what we feel and how we are inspired to bring ideas Into existence. You have to be bold to do fashion.
Henna is not only for body art it is also used as dye for hair and leather, It is also used for fingernails and wool. In the Hair aspect, there are some hair colors we see and we fall in love with and we start searching for that attachment online or in stores etc ... Well it's not an attachment it's a natural hair with the Henna dye applied on it. YES! It was dyed to that color. It comes In different kind of colors as u can see , for both hair and skin . Henna can also be applied on the eyebrow but with care. Henna are sometimes used to draw temporary eyebrow that could last for a month or so.
I believe that Nigerians are one of the most creative black nations. What we need is just exposure to what's trending. So let's try this one out, not only makeup artists or tattoo artists or beauticians, but all of us who are Fashion plates, not just learning it but trying it on to promote this trendy tradition and as usual make sure YOU KILL IT !!!.
